Hard Work
A book recommendation for the history buff, or anyone interested on how computers have evolved in the last 200 years. No formulas. The author paints a picture not of lone geniuses that are inflection points in history, rather collaborative groups who evolved previous ideas. Government, industry, and open source models were all represented. Elite and impoverished as well women, gays and atheist all had significant roles. Its hard to derive a successful recipe from history. The only common theme is that all valued innovations are the result of hard work. You can't escape the hard work.
