Linger Longer
Cape Cod, even the name sounds aristocratic. This was a first time visit for the two of us. I had visions of having our blood checked for blueness at the border, but in reality the one town we visited was more like the outback coastal towns of Georgia of my youth.
Here is a quick snapshot we did manage to take of the local political movers & shakers of Cape Cod. Mayor of Linger Longer on the lower right.
Our gracious hosts (K&L) provided room and board for as long as we needed. A long weekend was just perfect.
First a drink recipe. We were fortunate enough to get the real recipe from the mayor of Linger Longer.
Cape Codder
A drink of only two major ingredients. Vodka and cranberry juice. Proportions are up to you. Served in a glass with ice. Best done if vodka is kept in the freezer. A word of caution. The ratio of vodka/juice seems to affect local gravity. More study is required.
Now for a short drone video of the compound. Note the non crowded beach, scrub pines and sea grass instead of towering condos, and of course the evolving farmer's tan.
Drones seem to find their way into most conversations (next time I bring the 3D printer just to keep the spark going) Here is a local on a drone watch.
And here at flight school is a young drone captain taking it out for spin.
The trip was not a total vacation, some moments were spent working on basic science. We walked by the Cape Cod Day Camp on the beach where 100 or so teenagers were learning to sail, play volleyball, or make sand castles (special school). It seems as though the fair skin kids were far more likely to be plumper than the tanned kids. Yep folks, no need to wait for the peer reviewed paper. Obesity is caused by fair skin. Fair skin kids who were sitting on a blanket and eating potato chips were far more like to be heavier than their tanned friends playing soccer.
Speaking of pudgy kids, we had the following encounter with a 5 year old while flying the drone:
Random Fair Skin Pudgy Kid (RFSPK): Hey dude, can I fly that thing?
Me: Uh it requires a license. Do you have a license?
RFSPK: (with pensive serious face) I left my license at home.
Me: You will make a good lawyer.
One last note. The green flash was a topic of conversation at sunset. We were asked had we seen one? If so where? what were the conditions? Yes Virginia the legend of the green flash is alive and well.
